Our solution: ergonomic cabins & operator seats
At Metagro, we develop cabins and operator seats entirely from the operator’s perspective. Each solution is designed to improve working posture, reduce physical strain, and increase comfort during long workdays.

Understand First
Good ergonomics starts with understanding. How does an operator work? What movements does a person make during a workday? Where does physical strain occur, and how does the cabin’s layout affect it?
At Metagro, we therefore start by looking at real-world situations. We listen to operators and carefully map out their work, movements, and needs.
Supported by research
For Metagro, ergonomics is not just an afterthought in a design, but the foundation of a good work environment. That is why we combine practical experience with scientific insights and ergonomic expertise.
That approach has a long history. In 2002, Hesse-Noord Natie—the predecessor of the current PSA Antwerp—collaborated with the port’s medical service to investigate health issues among operators.
From Insight to Solution
The 2002 study showed that seating posture in the cabin played a significant role in neck and back pain. The question, therefore, was: How can we systematically reduce physical strain?
Operators, ergonomics specialists, and the medical department worked together to find a better solution. This ultimately led to the development of the first version of the Metagro Ergoseat—an approach that still forms the foundation of our ergonomic solutions.
From Insight to Continuous Development
For us, the first Ergoseat wasn’t the end, but rather the beginning. New insights from ergonomic research, feedback from operators, and changes in work environments constantly inform our designs.
After all, there is no single “standard” solution for the ideal working posture. Every operator, machine, and work environment has different requirements. That’s why we look beyond just the chair and focus on the entire interaction between people, machines, and the work environment.
Our goal is simple: to create an ergonomic work environment where operators can work comfortably, healthily, and effectively. To achieve this, we combine practical knowledge with high-tech ergonomics. From body position and support to the controls and layout of the cab: every detail counts.
